Thermomix Pesto with Chef Maquire

Ireland’s Chef Neven Maquire makes a quick pesto with Thermomix.

What makes this video worth watching?

  • It’s a breezy Thermomix demonstration for making pesto sauce quickly.
  • We like it when professional chefs talk about Thermomix.
  • Chef Maquire values the Thermomix in his kitchen. His comfort level with this super kitchen machine is evident.
  • The “chlorophyll green” of this pesto is gorgeous. You’ll want to make some right now!

What makes this video hard to watch?

  • Chef Maquire refers to the Thermomix as “a blender” which is not accurate. Yes, he uses Thermomix here for blending, but Thermomix is much more than a blender. It is also a cooker, a steamer, grinder, kneader, (and more) and has reversing blade! To call Thermomix a ‘blender’ is not accurate and also misleading for those who don’t already own one.
  • At the end Maquire says he will serve this pesto with…  “the hake”.  With the what?? I had to rewind the video to hear this right. At first I didn’t quite understand but thanks to Wikipedia, finally did find a  definition for “Hake” — a fish found in the salt-waters of Ireland.

Everytime I see Chef Maquire talk about the Thermomix he mentions the crème brûlée in 7 minutes! He must really make it a lot…
