Make it with Thermomix: Applesauce

Applesauce made by Thermomix is more flavorful, more healthy, and more fun too! Use applesauce as the base for many other recipes from breakfast through dinner and dessert. Here below is the recipe I use most often — it comes from page 60 of the Australian Thermomix Cookbook titled “Everyday Cooking… for Every Family”, with the added option of citric acid to prevent browning.

Applesauce

Ingredients

4 large flavorful apples (we all have our preferences, but organic apples are best)
75 g water
½ tsp. citric acid (optional — ask at health food stores and drug stores.)

Method
-
Core and quarter the apples, leaving the peel on.
-
Put apples and water into Thermomix bowl and chop for 30 seconds on speed 4
- Open lid, scrape down the sides of the bowl with spatula (add citric acid if using)
- Cook for 8 minutes at 90°C on speed 4.
- Blend for 30 seconds on speed 8 if desired.

Tip!
Home-made applesauce is an important ingredient in Andie’s Heirloom Cake.
