Seriously Citrus Vitamin Cooler!

Seriously Citrus

After spending two days sick in bed I decided it was time to do more than reach for another handkerchief and feel sorry for myself. It was time for a serous hit of healthy vitamins. And, it was time for a cold refreshing drink too. So here’s what I did with Thermomix after pulling myself out of bed this afternoon.

Seriously Citrus Vitamin Shooter!

1 seedless Japanese Mandarin orange
1 lemon (peeled)
1 lime (peeled)
1-2 tablespoons maple syrup (or use honey)
4-5 ice cubes
200 g. filtered water

- Put entire peeled orange into Thermomix bowl.
- Cut lemon in half. Remove seeds and put this lemon half into Thermomix. Squeeze the other half lemon for its juice (watch for seeds!) and put the juice into Thermomix. Repeat these actions with the lime.
- Add remaining ingredients to Thermomix bowl and blitz for 1 minute on speed 8.

I know, a full minute at speed 8 feels like an necessarily long processing time but the result is an utterly refreshing drink with virtually zero pulp. With only one tablespoon of maple syrup, there is just enough ’sugar’ to cut the sharp tart taste of the lemon and lime. Be advised, one spoon of maple syrup will NOT result in a sweet drink, and while this is how I enjoy it best, you might prefer twice the sugar component.

When I was fighting a winter’s cold, this drink hit the spot with vitamin-filled citrus refreshment that made me feel better instantly! Highly recommended for whatever ails you.

Just made this myself. I left the peel on both the lemon and the lemon and blitzed for longer. Very, very nice drink and you feel the benefit immediately

Great Chris — so glad to hear this one worked for you. I think this means we have similar tastes… not everyone appreciates such intensity of citrus, but for some of us, this really is a “feel better” drink. So basic, yet so gratifying. Thanks for your feedback!
